Preparation
Every rod is crafted by our hands and guided by our commitment!
01.
Growing Willow
The journey of willow rods begins with proper soil preparation and planting cuttings. Basket willows are planted in spring, and their care requires patience and consistency.
- Moist yet well-drained soil is selected
- Cuttings are planted directly into the field
- Regular maintenance required
- Growing cycle – 1 year
02.
Harvesting
Harvesting takes place in autumn or winter, once the rods are fully mature and the leaves have fallen.
- Harvested using specialized machinery
- Willow rods are sorted by diameter and length
- Side shoots and unsuitable parts are removed
- Crucial timing – late autumn
03.
Drying and Storage
To ensure the rods are ready for weaving, they must be properly dried and stored.
- Heat-treated and stripped of bark
- Dried naturally and in dedicated drying kilns
- Stored in dry conditions to preserve quality
- Once dried, they are weighed and bundled by length
04.
Transportation
To ensure the willow rods reach weavers in perfect condition, they are carefully packaged and prepared for transport.
- Rods are bundled by variety and length
- Direct on-farm pickup available
- Long-standing collaboration with local weavers
- Regular export to Italy, Poland, Latvia, Germany, and other countries
